The Crown Inn - Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
The Crown Inn is a 17th century thatched inn based in the beautiful village of Elton, Elton is arguably the most sought after village in Cambridgeshire. Flowing through the village is the River Nene, reputedly the inspiration for the well known children's novel, "Wind in the Willows", which is also one of EnglandÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s most popular boating rivers. Elton Mill and Lock is a short walk from the front door over the village greens. Just beyond are beautiful walks through meadows with an array of wildlife. Footpaths are clearly marked. The Crown bar with it's beamed ceiling and roaring inglenook fireplace in Winter, is a fine place to relax with friends and family. The third Monday in the month is, 'Open Mic Night' which always has a popular turnout. Please note that dogs are welcome at the bar. The Crown has an excellent reputation for serving fine ales and has been recognised with the Cask Marque accreditation for quality. Ales regularly change and there are between four and six available. Regular favourites are the inn's "Golden Crown Bitter" and Greene King IPA. Guest ales are sourced from all over the UK and some examples include Timothy Taylor, Exmoor Gold and Caledonian Deuchars to name but a few. The Crown Inn also supports local breweries and regularly features guest ales. All wines at The Crown are supplied by Concept Fine Wines of Harrogate. Three whites and three reds are served by the glass plus sparkling and rose. The pub, which is featured in the Michelin Restaurant Guides, The Michelin 'Eating Out in Pubs & Inns 2007/08/09' and The Michelin 'Red 2007/08/09'.

There is a great emphasis placed on food in the Chef owned Crown Inn Restaurant. We employ highly talented chefs who create everything in our kitchen using locally sourced quality produce where possible. All of our dishes are freshly prepared to order. We use quality fresh produce sourced from local suppliers and fresh fish and shell fish direct from the North Sea. We are featured in the Michelin Guides 2007. We do wedding breakfast for up to 40 in restaurant, evening buffets for up to 120 and the possibility of having a marquee on the car park for larger parties. Sunday traditional lunches 12-3 always have roast beef and pork as well as other dishes. Booking is strongly recommended. On Saturday, only the a-la-carte menu is served and we recommend that you book early for this to avoid disappointment. We do not have a children's menu as such, but are happy to produce some dishes in smaller portions for children. Bookings for accommodation are only guaranteed with a credit card number.

Five en-suite rooms are available for all customers wishing to spend the night, three of the rooms are above the Inn and two are in the courtyard. All rooms have TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
