The Horse and Jockey is a lovely old fashioned pub built in 1664. It is an old style pub with open coal fires in 2 rooms, the staff are lovely and very helpful, making it a warm and friendly atmosphere, perfect for a quiet drink with friends and family. They serve a wide range of draught beers, wine and spirits for your enjoyment with many customers travelling from a far for the wide selection of real ales on offer and the warm feeling to the pub. In 2008 the pub won pub of the year in Mansfield and Ashfield. The beer garden is a lovely place to sit and relax with a refreshing drink in the summer months and with disabled facilities and a car park, this makes the pub accessible to all. To keep everyone amused there is a dartboard and pool table, along with dominos every Monday evening. If you don’t fancy this why not join us every Wednesday night for folk music night where customers bring there own instruments and play for the enjoyment of the customers. That’s not forgetting the quiz nights every Sunday as well as beer and meat draws. Although there is no set menu the pub serves a lovely range of bar snacks, so customers will never go hungry, including filled rolls, toasties, soup and a special that changes daily. All special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, christenings, can be catered for holding up to approximately 30-40 people.
